Ask Yunji!

Dear Yunji,
How have you gotten through law school?
Pensive in the Booths
Dear Pensive,
In honor of the looming exam period, I shall answer your query in outline form:
What Has Gotten Me Through Law School (Kim, Spring 2009)
A. Imaginary Things
- Grandiose, unrealistic plans of taking over the world with my law degree.
- The possibility of working as a legal consultant on "Law and Order."
B. Secret Habits that Strangely Make Me Happy
- Repeatedly listening to the theme song of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"
- Browsing online for fine chinaware I don't need.
- Walking. Into a Thai restaurant.
- Friends who teach you civil procedure the night before the exam.
- Friends who give you their outlines and notes when they see you crying in defeat.
- Friends who listen.
- Friends who drag you to your date after classic female law student neurosis kicks in, and you start stressing out about dinner with someone you like, and consider not going.
- Friends who quake with you when you get asked about Inchoate Crimes.
- Friends on g-chat who point out the guy who's totally passed out in class.
- Friends who watch your bags for you in the lounges for hours while you go frolic on the quad.
- Friends who share their ibuprofen with you.
- Friends who are going through just as difficult a time as you are and aren't afraid to admit it.
I don't know if I will make it - in fact, I don't even know what "making it" means anymore. All I know is that I have made it this far, and if I ever do reach that elusive point of success, it won't be because of any trait of mine; but because of all of you who have pulled me along. So thanks for last year, this year, and the next. Hope you guys have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Yunji
